Becky Prophet
When she was a student at AU, Becky Prophet earned her BA in English, but Theatre and Music were equally close to her heart. After graduation, she worked in theater for six years; she realized that teaching and creating theater was exactly what she wanted to spend the rest of her life doing. Becky attended grad school determined to teach at the college level and empower her husband, Craig (AU ’68), to become a freelance artist.
Becky was given the opportunity to return to Alfred University as a Professor of Theatre twenty-two years after her graduation. She has worked in the Performing Arts Division and Theater Department throughout the last twenty-five years. Becky adores every aspect of creating theater and is deeply devoted to helping her students explore creative expression and discover the joys of theater.
Becky has also served on numerous CLAS and University committees. Her involvement has always revolved around a common feature: the desire to give back to Alfred University and the Village of Alfred itself. Becky is a trustee of the Village, a member of the local volunteer fire company, and an EMT.
“I live to serve to make Alfred a better, more responsive University, able to serve more students and the surrounding area in many, many ways.” – Becky Prophet
